When you’re heating silicon wafers, every bit of wasted energy is just money disappearing into thin air. Most people stick with standard aluminum reflectors. They’re cheap, sure. But here’s the problem: aluminum just doesn’t catch the full spectrum of infrared (IR) radiation. It lets too much slip through. We use gold coating to plug those leaks, making sure every single watt of power actually hits the wafer. Gold vs. Aluminum: The real difference Think of it this way. Polished aluminum is fine for some things, but it struggles with long-wave IR. Gold is a different beast. It reflects way more energy. By putting a precision layer of gold on the reflector, we stop the material from absorbing the heat. Instead, those photons go exactly where they belong—on your target. For you, that means two things: you either stop drawing so much power, or you hit your target temperature a whole lot faster.
